Public Works Director
City of Edgewood, KY

 The City of Edgewood, Ky seeks a qualified individual to lead the operation and administration of the Public Works Department with a budget of $4.8 million, 10 full-time and 5 seasonal employees.  This key leadership position will plan, organize and direct short/long range projects, develop policies and initiatives for the department, and manage staff and resources.  This position will work directly with City Engineers, utility companies, contractors and the public.

Desired qualifications include: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in construction management, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field; with at least 3-5 years’ experience at the general manager level; or have had at least 5 plus years’ experience as a Kentucky licensed engineer ensuring construction according to plans and specifications on construction projects totaling at least $750,000 per year for each of the five years; or have had at least 5 years’ experience as the Director of Public Works for a city with a population of at least 5,000. 

The successful candidate must possess a valid Driver’s License, and must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 120 days of appointment.  The ideal candidate should be able to do concrete/blacktop work, operate equipment, snow removal and have general construction knowledge. 

Candidates must demonstrate computer skills, leadership skills, superior communication skills with the public and large groups, public relations, municipal management practices, and construction related technology.

 Salary: $66,250 – 83,840 DOQ
