COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
June 1, 2026

CALL TO ORDER —Mayor Link called the meeting of the Edgewood City Council to order at 6:30 pm. The following council
members were present: Ben Barlage, Joe Messmer, Jeff Schreiver, Bridget Grady Spears and Rob Thelen. Also, in attendance were
City Administrator Brian Dehner, City Clerk Belinda Nitschke, and City Attorney Frank Wichmann. Other staff members present:
Fire Chief Tom Dickman and Police Chief James “Jimmy” Kreinest. Council members W. Jamie Ruehl and Scott Spille were absent

CITIZENS DESIRING RECOGNITION ON LEGISLATIVE MATTERS NOT ON THE AGENDA – None
APPROVAL OF AGENDA -~ Approved
APPROVAL OF MINUTES —May 18, 2026 Council Meeting Minutes —Mr. Thelen made a motion to approve the May 18, 2026,
minutes as written; second by Mr. Messmer. Mr. Barlage, Mr. Schreiver and Mrs. Spears abstained. Motion passed: 2 ayes —3
abstentions.
REPORT/PRESENTATIONS —Mayor’s Report —Mayor Link thanked everyone for their participation in the Memorial Day
Ceremony with an overflowing crowd in attendance. Mayor Link thanked our staff, police department, fire department, Kenton
County Honor Guard, Boy Scout Troop 779 for their participation. Mayor Link stated that Sergeant Winkler did a wonderful job
playing Taps during the ceremony. Mr. Schreiver mentioned that TBNK was there and filmed the ceremony and they have a great
highlight segment of it on their website and Facebook. At the last meeting of the NKADD Board Judge Moore stated that grants from
the federal government go through the board for approval. Mayor Link made a motion to approve the Dudley Road project and it was
approved by the board.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS —None
NEW BUSINESS —MRAF Public Hearing Regarding the use of Municipal Road Aid Funds —The City expects to receive
approximately $161,708 in Municipal Road Aid in FY2026/2027. No written comments have been received; the hearing was opened
for public comment. No comments were received. Mayor Link closed the hearing at 6:37 pm.
ORDINANCES, MUNICIPAL ORDERS, AND RESOLUTIONS —Ordinance 2026-06-03 —Budget for FY2026-2027 —1
reading. Mr. Wichmann read the following: ANORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWOOD, IN KENTON COUNTY,
KENTUCKY, ADOPTING A BUDGET AND PERSONNEL PAY PLAN BRACKETS FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWOOD
FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING ON JULY 1, 2026.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
– City Shred Event in Freedom Park, this Saturday June 6″ from 9am —noon, proof of residency is required.
– Tuesday Night Summer Concert Series kicks off with Doghouse on June 9″ at 7:pm in Presidents Park.
– Edgewood Day at Brookwood Swim Club is Saturday, June 20″ from 11 —9: pm.

Mr. Barlage made a motion to adjourn at 6:40 p.m.; second by Mrs. Spears. Motion passed: 5 ayes —0 nays.
